Pilgrims rush at Jeddah airport

Since the beginning of Umrah season in the middle of December 2015, around 2.859 million Umrah pilgrims have arrived and departed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through Jeddah’s King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA), as reported by an airport official recently.

Altheeb, said that around 1.7 million Umrah pilgrims have arrived and nearly 1.159 million have departed the Kingdom through the Jeddah airport.

He told that all these Umrah passengers have arrived on 13,046 flights and departed on 6,542 flights in total. Adding to it he told that more than 7,000 employees have been allocated from the public and private sectors in order to serve these Umrah pilgrims.

A statistical report issued by King Abdul Aziz International Airport reported that in total 18,036 Umrah pilgrims on 137 flights arrived at the airport on Monday evening, whereas 14,004 departed from the airport on the same day on board 72 international flights.

The Hajj and Umrah terminal complex at King Abdul Aziz International Airport has, in total, 14 arrival and departure lounges, which are completely dedicated to serve Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

The Hajj and Umrah terminal complex at King Abdul Aziz International Airport has, in total, 26 airplane parking bays, 18 travel gates,10 passenger boarding bridges, 143 immigration counters, 14 travel lounges for pilgrims, 2 operation centers, a control tower, 120 counters for Ministry of Hajj commissions, 224 counters for United agent offices and 254 travel counters. The length of the luggage conveyor belt, which also features a first class and VIP lounges, is 1.180 meters.

The terminal complex also has a 123 room hotel, which incorporates a food court and a 9.418 SQM commercial area.

There are 20 waiting lounges at the Hajj Plaza, as well as 40 praying areas, in addition to 32 bathroom facilities.
